New Year, New You: The Top 10 Books to Help You Ring in the New Year Right!

As the earth completes its annual rotation around the sun, some things come to an end but others begin. For me, the New Year always implies new beginnings, new opportunities, and the chance to create real change in my life. It’s a time when the world collectively takes a moment to reflect, re-center, and reconnect with the life we want.

Here in the Beyond Words office, we’ve been sharing some of our favorite books to help invoke a New You for the New Year. Whether you’re looking to change your body, mind, or soul, we’ve got a book designed just for you.

Here are our top 10 books to help you ring in the New Year right! (more…)

What does color do for you?

My favorite color is red. It has been since I was a child, and whenever I see something in red I find myself drawn to it. As far as I understood, it was just an affinity and wouldn’t do much for me. But then I started playing with Inna Segal’s new Secret Language of Color Card Deck I found out that by wearing red so much I can free myself from pain. The cards are gorgeous! I want to put them up all over my cubicle. You can see a few of them on the deck’s site. Inna talked about the importance and use of color in her book The Secret Language of Your Body, and these work great for helping you focus and really get the most out of her book.

Happy 4th of July!

As we prepare to break for the long weekend, we here at BWP are celebrating several different pieces of good news. Not only has it finally decided to be summer here in the Northwest (and in my opinion there are few places more beautiful at this time of the year), but we have just gotten news that Nawang Khechog is well on the road to recovery. He has been in Hawaii since his surgery but, hopefully, will be returning home to Boulder this weekend. Thank you to everyone who sent their thoughts and prayers, and I have sent those along to him. Your outpouring of love was incredibly beautiful, and I know it will help him in his recovery.

Also, Karen and Richard just got back from INATS West where they presented the COVR Visionary Awards. We were honored to have three of our products chosen as finalists for the award, but this last weekend, we found out that The Bushman Way of Tracking God was 1st runner up in the Magick/Shamanism book category, Wake Up was 2nd runner up in the Video/DVD category, and The Secret Language of Your Body was 2nd runner up in the Alternative Health/Healing category.

The weather is beautiful, the news is inspirational, and we are about to celebrate our country’s birthday. It is a great day! Happy 4th of July to everyone!

Emily and I were joined by three of our authors for a delicious dinner at Sego in Ketchum. The conversation was wonderful, and it was great to get a firsthand experience of the brilliance that our authors bring to the world. It really is a privilege to work with all of them.

Sun Valley Recap

I was fortunate enough to go to the Sun Valley Wellness Festival this year, and it was amazing!

Sun Valley is stunning, with the mountains, beautiful buildings, near the adorable town of Ketchum. One of my best memories was when it snowed on May 30th. Vernal Equinox or not, Sun Valley’s still working it’s way out of winter.

Besides the scenery and the weather, the speakers were fascinating. The keynote speaker, Gregg Braden kicked off the festival in spectacular fashion, setting the tone for the entire weekend by drawing many compelling links between science and spirituality. I was fascinated by the discoveries of civilizations over 10,000 years old, the collective magnetic power of the world’s population, the imminent doom of Darwin, and the hope for the world’s future.

I had a wonderful time listening to a huge variety of lectures, from a fascinating environmental lecture by DC activist and Sun Valley native Aimee Christensen, to an experiential lecture by master herbalist, David Crow.

We also had the opportunity to spend time with four of our wonderful authors who braved the cold weather to share their messages with the vibrant Sun Valley Community. Thank you so much to Thomas Poppe and Johanna Paungger, Tami Kent, and Inna Segal for being such wonderful representatives of the Beyond Words family. We are honored and privileged to work with such innovative, caring, generous authors.

I took some great pictures that I will post tomorrow.

A Time to Reflect

Secret Language of Your BodyThe holiday season in Australia is fantastic. It’s warm, relaxing and lots of fun. I am especially excited about going on holidays with my family and friends. There’s going to be a lot of laughter, fun and relaxation.

After my first big US book tour I am looking forward to reconnecting with nature, relaxing and enjoying myself for a week at a beautiful resort. This is the first time that one of my close friends will join me and my family, so it’s going to be extra fun.

I think that holidays are a fantastic time to reflect on what has happened over the past year. Contemplate what has worked and what has not, and decide how you can do things differently and better in the future. We always try to make some improvements to our house as well.

Being a highly intuitive person I always tune into my heart and the energy of the universe and ask to be shown what the next step in my soul’s journey needs to be. Incredibly, every year is completely different to the previous year.

I am always enthusiastic to know that I am guided by Divine Intelligence and that each year has its own set of challenges, surprises and opportunities for growth, evolution, expansion and Love. Happy Holidays!

*Blush* Bodhi Tree are big fans of Inna Segal!

Inna Segal‘s booksigning for The Secret Language of Your Body at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore on September 14, 2010 was a wonderful success. We had a large turnout and she sold almost 100% of the room with a combination of her books, card deck, and CDs! She gave a captivating presentation and inspired all who attended with the depth of her knowledge and experience. Inna’s beauty, grace and inner strength are a powerful catalyst to delve within and do the work required to create total health.” Jo Carey, Events Coordinator, Bodhi Tree Bookstore.

11 Steps to Stress Release

Guest Blog by Inna Segal, author of The Secret Language of Your Body.

Feeling stressed out? Try these 11 ways to relieve the tension.

Recognize what you are stressed about

Is it your health, work, money or relationship? You need to clarify what is causing you stress so you can do something about it.

Ask for help

Often people feel that they have to do it all on their own. If you are feeling that you need help in an area of your life, then don’t be afraid to ask for it, whether it is financial advice, help with children, assistance with your relationship or advice about a health condition.

Time management

People are often stressed because they have too many things to do. Take a pen and paper and make a list of what you can realistically do today.

Then do those things. (more…)
