Dr. Lani Leary at TEDx Honolulu, 11.1.11
Posted by Leah on October 26th, 2011, 3:34 pm
No One Has to Die Alone author Dr. Lani Leary will be presenting a TED Talk at TEDx Honolulu on November 1, 2011. Drawing from her experience sitting with over 500 people as they died and caring for her own parents through terminal illness, Dr. Lani Leary guides caregivers, family, and friends through the complex process of supporting a dying loved one while also addressing their own grieving process.
Along with her professional experience, Dr. Leary opens the conversation around death by relating her own personal experiences with the death of loved ones. Sure to be an inspiring talk, Dr. Leary offers accessible insights, practical tools, and personal stories to provide a sense of community, profound relief, and deep meaning for both caregiver and patient.
We got a special sneak listen to Dr. Leary’s talk in the office this afternoon. By the end we were all a little teary eyed but also full of hope. We can’t wait to watch the talk live November 1, 2011 at 11:30 am HST (that’s 2:30 pm PST).
Follow Dr. Leary via her website, or via Twitter @DrLaniLeary.

The Universe himself is going on tour starting on Sunday for his newest book, Leveraging the Universe! I’m so sad he’s not coming to Portland, but I’m definitely contemplating a road trip to Seattle for the last stop on his tour. If you live in or near Baltimore, Philadelphia, Austin, Denver, San Francisco, San Diego, or Seattle be sure you get to the bookstore early or buy your tickets soon to make sure you get to experience Mike Dooley in person.

Sun Valley Photos
Posted by Whitney on June 14th, 2011, 3:47 pm
Here they are (finally)!

Tami Kent and Inna Segal
Two of our lovely authors in Ketchum the little town outside of Sun Valley after they both did great presentations at the Sun Valley Wellness Festival.

Clockwise from top left: Whitney, Emily, Tami Kent, Johanna Paungger, and Thomas Poppe
Emily and I were joined by three of our authors for a delicious dinner at Sego in Ketchum. The conversation was wonderful, and it was great to get a firsthand experience of the brilliance that our authors bring to the world. It really is a privilege to work with all of them.

Three Things That You Can Do to Transform the Planet and Your Life
by Catriona Macgregor, author of Partnering With Nature
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes.
-Marcel Proust
In this age of technological advancements, our connection with Nature has diminished alarmingly. We are becoming strangers in our home–the Earth. We miss the subtle changes in the wind, the calls of birds, the smell of the fragrant ground beneath our feet. We spend more time indoors on computers and TVs, which leaves little time for deep inner journeys or quiet walks in the woods. Yet, who we are and what we are–the very root of our identity–springs from the Earth.
We are suffering from a lack of contact with nature, a nature-deficit that not only leads to ill health, but also gives us a sense that something is missing in our lives. Our children are especially vulnerable. We are witnessing a whole new generation that is growing up “hooked” to an electronic device of one kind or another. According to a 2010 study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, children today are spending practically every waking minute (7.5 hours per day) — except for the time in school — using a smart phone, computer, television or other electronic device”. Roll Around Heaven Jumps Off the Page
Posted by georgie on November 30th, 2010, 12:49 pm
Jessica Maxwell, author of Roll Around Heaven, really is the hilariously, inspiring woman in her book, and recently a workshop full of people in McMinnville, Oregon got to see it for themselves.
Juanita Crampton of McMinnville said of Jessica,”You have a kind of joie de vivre, a love affair with life and a way of showing that spirituality is not just serious business and certainly not concepts to be learned and followed, but rather a way of living life that brings out the native gladness and generosity that dwell in all of our hearts.”
And Carol Zinda, also of McMinnville said “Your sense of humor is delightful, entertaining and yet inspiring. Thank you so much for being you and for opening up to God’s calling to help so many.”
Jessica shared in greater detail the lessons she is learning along the RAH path, and with the help of The Holy Pig Farmer himself, helped everyone see the wonder of their own life experiences.
Jessica will be taking her RAH show on the road very soon. To stay up to date on where she will be, visit her website www.rollaroundheaven.com.
