Michael Bernard Beckwith: The Answer Is You Michael Beckwith

Tomorrow night in San Diego PBS viewers will be in for a treat. Premiering on KPBS will be the special “Michael Bernard Beckwith: The Answer Is You,” where the Rev. Beckwith addresses a sold out audience in downtown Los Angeles at L.A. Live. (It was indeed a star-studded event — I found this photo gallery online!)

The Rev Beckwith is an inspiration to people of so many different faiths, and apparently in this special he address questions such as their connection with the divine, adopting a mind-set with allows a better connection, and how we can all live more rewarding lives. Similar themes as his book and DVD Spiritual Liberation, but with live interaction and singing and dancing! We here in Portland are envious of your San Diegoans (is that right?) for getting this sneak peek, since it won’t be aired nationally until mind-December.

Until then, we’ll enjoy this glorious photograph of the Agape Choir perfoming live, taken by Barry Selby (and which I found on the KPBS website).

The Road To Hana

Aloha! Maui is a truly special place. I watched my first sunset at the beach in Kihea, and it was nothing short of spectacular. My first morning was spent taking the Road To Hana, which is a 50 mile long, constantly curvy drive at about 20 miles per hour. I’ve never seen a narrower road, and there are about 40 bridges that only one car can cross at a time.

We stopped and hiked to take in the amazing jungle scenery. The first wildlife I saw was a rooster, then some monkey’s! Toward the end of the road there is a state park that has amazing lava formations, and the famous Black Sand Beach. Truly an amazing site! Check back in tomorrow, I will post on my visit to the Iao Valley!

Don Goewey on Montel Williams

MysticCoolOne of our favorite authors, the delightful Don Joseph Goewey, was asked to appear on a special 9/11 anniversary episode of the Montell Williams Across America. At the end of many personal stories of triumph, Montel brought Don on to explain the “Clear Button” technique from Mystic Cool.  As a “Stress Elimination Expert” Don explained how the clear button technique allows people to move the stress they feel to the part of their brain that provides us creative problem solving.

Dan Brown Channels Beyond Words!

The Living MatrixI’m a big fan of Dan Brown—you know, of The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons fame. I have been powering through his latest book, The Lost Symbol. I got up to chapter 15, and I was stunned. The entire chapter seemed to speak of our books, DVDs, and the messages our publishing company, Beyond Words, has help spread throughout the years. This is a mainstream book folks, talking about IONS (The Institute of Noetic Science) with whom we’ve done author events before. This institute appears in the documentary The Living Matrix. Chapter 15 discusses the field of Noetic Science—”the untapped potential of the human mind”—leading into many themes contained within the pages of our books and the images in our films. (more…)

Aloha!

The Aloha ShirtHi, I’m Brian and this is my first Beyond Words blog post. I’m the Sales & Customer Service Manager, and most of the time you will find me with a phone in my ear, a spreadsheet on my computer, and a long list of things to do. However, my first post finds me in beautiful Maui, Hawaii!

It’s my first trip to Hawaii and I just arrived late Thursday. Today I am taking a trip on The Road To Hana, which is filled with incredible scenery, hikes, waterfalls, black sand beaches made from Volcanic sand, and wildlife. I’ll be taking pictures along the way, so make sure to check back in next week so I can show you how amazing it is.

Portland Blessings

I came to Portland, Oregon on vacation from Chicago 23 years ago, almost as an afterthought. I was headed to Expo ’86 in Vancouver BC, and had 4 extra days so I flew here instead of Seattle. I still remember looking at the little red dot on the map and thinking “Hmm, I’ll check it out.” I was enchanted when I got off the plane in May and could smell the trees. Everything was so green.

The following year I spent 2 weeks in Oregon, and the year after I simply moved here. I’ve never regretted it. I’ve been lucky enough to vacation in every state in the US and know that I live in heaven on earth.

Like the Windmills of Your Mind

The CirclesOver the weekend, I picked up my copy of Kerry Armstrong’s cute little book, The Circles. Its deceptively simple process of sorting and organizing the relationships in your life is one that I like to do with a sort of sporadic regularity–much like the seasons here in Portland, which flutter around like a spastic dying swan on the stage of life before tripping and falling into the artless Grand Pas de Road Construction that is the Pacific Northwest Winter. Teaching Our Cells to Heal

Living MatrixYou know, I’ve wondered why some people get sick and why some don’t. Even with things as small as colds, why do I sometimes remain healthy when surrounded by ill people, yet at other times I get sick easily? I’ve always held that your attitude plays a key role in your susceptibility to illness…if I’m in a good mood with high spirits (as well as washing my hands, taking my supplements, and getting lots of sleep) then I’m less likely to “catch” something. Yet if I’m tired, worn out, or stressed, the bugs may have an easier time infiltrating my defenses. (more…)
